HISTORY
Care for Cancer is a local charity founded some 21 years ago by two local women whose husbands both developed cancer. Both women felt that much more support was needed during their husbands’ illnesses and sadly their deaths.
The support both families longed for was simply not available at a local level, so both women set about forming the Care for Cancer Group, who would provide necessary support and information for individuals and families, and hopefully prevent others from experiencing the isolation both their families had felt.
Today Care for Cancer is a thriving small charity providing a wide range of services to individuals and families, living in our local area whose lives have been touched by cancer.
STAFF AND MEMBERSHIP
Care for Cancer currently has approximately 40 active volunteer members. 10 of these members currently sit on the organisation’s Management Committee.
As a voluntary organisation we do not receive any Government Funding and therefore rely totally on fundraising efforts of our members and the local public.
We are constantly striving to create and develop new and existing services.
We are very grateful for the regular financial support we get from many of our members, local individuals and groups. Without this continued support, and more, we would not be able to continue our work. |
